The Nokia 6 smartphone is benefitting from the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. The update is the first for the HMD Global-made handset and is being pushed out as an over-the-air update.
The OTA update for the Nokia 6 reportedly weighs 369 MB. The update brings some new features and bug fixes Nokia 6 users' way. It also includes the April security patch from Google.
The arrival of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nokia 6 bears testimony to HMD Global's assertions that it would keep its regularly update its Android-powered Nokia brand smartphones.
"Nokia 6 comes with Android Nougat, the full spread of Google Services and no unnecessary extras. You get an experience that's focused and clutter-free, and we'll make sure you keep getting regular updates, so you'll always stay on top of features and security," notes Nokia on its website.

The news of the Nokia 6 receiving the Android N software update comes courtesy publication The Android Soul.
"Android 7.1.1 Nougat update is being rolled out to the Nokia 6 users as we speak," reported the publication.
The changelog reveals that the build number for the software update is 00CN_3_170. The update for the Nokia 6 brings support for 4G and 3G dual-SIM standby.
The software update also improves the power saving and background management capabilities of the Nokia 6. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nokia 6 also updates the smartphone's USB drivers. Some preloaded apps on the smartphone also get updated.
The Nokia 6 also gets the monthly security patch from Google — 2017.4.
When Is Nokia 6 Releasing In the United States?
The Nokia 6 is currently available in China and some select countries. It is expected to hit the global market in the second half of 2017.
The Nokia 6 is quite durable as evidenced by scratch and burns tests. The smartphone's 5.5-inch screen that boasts Gorilla Glass 3 is able to withstand scratches.
HMD Global has shared that the global variant of the Nokia 6 will be released this spring, which includes the United States. The company is also expected to release the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, which are lower-end, in some countries in early May.

The Nokia 6 sports a unibody design and touts a 5.5-inch FHD screen. The Nokia 6 has been crafted from aluminum and houses a Snapdragon 430 processor. It also houses 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage (expandable to 128 GB).
The Nokia 6 also has a 16-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel secondary camera. The smartphone also houses a 3,000 mAh battery.
