Activision Releases A New Trailer Of 'Call Of Duty Black Ops III: Zombies Chronicles' Ahead Of May 16 Release

Call of Duty: WW2 is expected to release in the latter half of 2017, but other new content from the Call of Duty franchise will be made available to fans before. On May 4, Treyarch Studios officials confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will get a DLC soon. It was also revealed that this expansion would be titled Zombie Chronicles.

On Monday, May 8, Activision — the publisher of the game — went a step further and released the teaser trailer of the upcoming DLC. It also revealed that the DLC would make its way to the PlayStation 4 console in May itself.

What Does The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles Trailer Reveal?

The 2-minute and 40-second trailer gives fans a glimpse of all the maps which the DLC will feature. Based on the teaser and from what Activision revealed on its blog, Zombie Chronicles will bring eight zombie maps from three previous Call of Duty games, namely World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops II.

"Zombies Chronicles is really about the community that made Zombies what it has become today. Together, we've been slaying the undead for nearly ten years, across different game consoles, and Zombies Chronicles is really about bringing all of those fans together," Jason Blundell, co-studio head of Treyarch remarked.

The old maps have been remastered for the current-gen consoles. This remastering will give the maps enhanced graphical textures and improve the overall visual quality. Zombie Chronicles will also let players use custom weapons and items found in Black Ops III, which were originally present in the earlier three games even on the maps.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles will also give gamers some extra in-game items such as 20 vials of Liquid Divinium, 2 new Whimsical GobbleGums, an exclusive Weapon Camo, and a dynamic system theme for the PS4.

Among the maps that were teased in the trailer, popular zombie mode maps such as "Origins" from Black Ops II and "Kino der Untoten" from Black Ops were also shown.

"All these maps represent my childhood and me becoming a teenager, zombies as a game mode and these maps really hold a special space in my heart, not just because they are amazing but they have honestly been involved in the best moments of my life," a fan noted on YouTube.

Price And Availability

It is clear that with Zombie Chronicles, Treyarch Studios is looking to cash in on the nostalgic value that older maps hold for the series' fans. It is mainly targeted toward people who are familiar with the maps from the previous titles.

Zombie Chronicles will be available on PS4 from May 16 and while its official release date for Xbox One and PC has not been revealed, it is likely that the DLC will hit those platforms around a month later. Activision has priced the expansion $29.99, but it must be noted that to run the DLC players must have the base Call of Duty: Black Ops III game present on their system.
