Call Of Duty WWII Leak Reveals Release Date, Co-Op, Story Details, And More

Activision's new Call of Duty: WWII is due for a full reveal later this week, but a new leak now spills the beans ahead of time.

Leaked marketing materials reveal the game's release date, story line details, co-op mode, and more. The new installment in the widely popular Call of Duty franchise is made in collaboration with Sledgehammer Games and aims to bring the series back to its roots, placing the action in a World War II setting.

'Call of Duty: WWII' Release Date

The leaked marketing materials list a release date of Nov. 3, which falls on a Friday. Earlier installments in the franchise launched on Tuesdays, but the latest entries launched on Fridays so this Nov. 3 release date is plausible.

Should this prove to be accurate, fans eagerly waiting for the release will have to muster their patience for a few more months, but at least the game will hit the market before the holidays.

'Call of Duty: WWII' Story Line

"Land in Normandy on D-Day and battle across Europe through iconic locations in history's most monumental war," the game description explains.

The description further touts classic CoD combat, strong camaraderie, as well as the immense challenges fighting a war against a global power trying to subdue the world.

As expected from a World War II game, Call of Duty: WWII will focus on the "unbreakable brotherhood of common men" tied in combat. The leak further details that the game will sport bold and vivid visuals.

Speaking of visuals, Gearbox's president and CEO recently called out the Call of Duty: WWII box art for ripping off the 2008 game Brothers in Arms. Images of the two games' artwork side by side do show a striking resemblance and the similarity cannot be denied, but it remains unclear whether it was intentional or just a coincidence.

'Call of Duty: WWII' Maps, Modes, And Private Beta

The Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer will also have several maps set on some of the most iconic locations of World War II, and the leak also reveals that gamers will have a new means of socializing and interacting with their friends and the CoD community.

Call of Duty: WWII will also have a co-op mode, which will feature an "original story."

"Play with your friends in this next-level standalone game experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments," tout the marketing materials.

Lastly, eager gamers who preorder Call of Duty: WWII will apparently be able to enjoy a private beta as well, albeit no additional details are available at this point.

All of these details this new leak revealed remain unconfirmed for now, so this information should be treated like nothing more than a rumor. Anticipation is building up and the stakes are high after Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare had a weaker-than-expected performance, so it remains to be seen how the new game will pan out.

Activision will share more details regarding Call of Duty: WWII on April 26 at 10 p.m. PT (April 27 at 1 a.m. ET), so we'll soon get the official scoop straight from the source.
