There are several rumors about the OnePlus 5 making the rounds.
Some say it will be called the OnePlus 5 because of a Chinese fear of the number 4.
Others say it will sport dual cameras. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip is apparently a shoo-in too as rumors suggest.
While these give an idea of what the phone will be, that's all they give — an idea. So far, there has never been a photo, official or leaked, that can point to the OnePlus 5's design, form factor, and body.
OnePlus 5 Renders
That changes now. Leaked renders of the OnePlus has reportedly surfaced online, created based on descriptions by "people who have seen the phone and have possibly worked on the OnePlus 5." The operative word here is "created," which means the render is simply a composition informed by secondhand sources.
Feel free to question the provenance of the renders, but for what's it worth, it does show dual cameras on the back, which lines up nicely with previously reported rumors. The cameras are set up vertically, and it's anyone's guess as to why. The render also features a black hue, a colorway OnePlus seems to be reprising. It released a black 3T not too long ago, but in limited units only.
What Will The OnePlus 5 Be Made Of?
As for the materials of the OnePlus 5, the render makes it hard to determine what OnePlus will use for the forthcoming flagship, but rumors suggest that it will retain the metal construction from the 3 and the 3T. Oddly, there are no antenna lines on the upper back side of the device, but it sports such lines on the bottom.
Where's The Fingerprint Scanner?
No fingerprint scanner can be seen on the back, which suggests that it'll be on the front, most probably on the home button. Unfortunately, there's still not enough information to create a render of the device's front panel, although rumors say that the 16-megapixel camera found on the 3T will also hit the OnePlus 5.
OnePlus 5 Rumors
OnePlus hasn't officially talked about the 3T sequel yet, so take everything here with a grain of salt. That said, this leak, in addition to rumors, are the best we have right now.
The OnePlus 3T will purportedly pack in a snapdragon 835 chip, as mentioned above, but that might be just one of its powerhouse elements. The phone is also rumored to come with a whopping 8 GB of RAM, which no smartphone has done so far.
It's also rumored to come with an improved display and a sleeker frame, for good measure. Whether this signals a bezel-less screen is still hard to say, but with the LG G6 and Galaxy S8 already on-board the bezel-less trend, OnePlus might very well do the same.
OnePlus 5 Release Date
OnePlus hasn't announced anything about the OnePlus 5, let alone a release date, so it's hard to predict when the flagship will hit. Many expect it to arrive by the second half of 2017, which makes sense. If the company releases the device in November, it'll mark exactly a year since the release of the 3T.
