Brazilian teenager Marcel Fernandes Filho has done it again.
He broke the speed-texting world record back in May using a Fleksy touchscreen keyboard on his Samsung Galaxy S4 to type the phrase "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human," in 18.19 seconds.
That's impressive. Even more impressive is now Filho has broken his own record, only this time using a much larger phone -- the iPhone 6 Plus.
The Fleksy keyboard was unavailable on iOS devices, until now. That gave Filho the perfect opportunity to shatter his record. Earlier this month Filho texted the exact same "razor-toothed piranha" phrase from before on his iPhone 6 using Fleksy, only this time he clocked in at 17 seconds. You can watch him break the record below. The boxing getup really adds to the "drama," and thanks to Filho's fancy finger-work the video is over just when it starts getting good.
"I'm not really sure why I was faster on the iPhone," the king of texting in a statement. "It could be the slight difference in screen size, it could be how responsive the touchscreen is. I'm glad I can use Fleksy on both devices now though."
At this point Filho is basically a spokesperson for Fleksy, as he wears their shirts in the video and heaps praise upon the touchscreen keyboard. Flesky knows this kid is the real deal, but what about Apple? Filho is doing their work for them by declaring the iPhone 6 Plus a superior texting device. Get on the ball, Apple! This guy needs a sponsorship deal. Take him around the country to promote the iPhone 6, as he mesmerizes thousands with his lightning fast fingers, texting at blazing speeds (only possible on the iPhone 6 Plus, of course.) Apple is too cool for that though, and that's probably for the best.
