Arrow star Stephen Amell is probably not happy with the direction Warner Bros. took when it was announced that the movie and TV universes would be separate from each other. However, he did make a statement in a recent interview that suggests that something big is in the planning stages.
In a recent interview with AMC Movie Talk, Amell talked a lot about being on Arrow and The Flash TV series. A lot of folks might not have realized that The Flash is more popular when compared to Arrow, this despite Arrow being the first TV show in the shared universe.
In the past, we always believed that Warner Bros. would follow Marvel's lead and combine both the TV and movie universes, but it turned out this might never happen, well, not in the way some would have hoped.
Recently, it was confirmed that both the cinematic and TV universes are part of the same multiverse. What does this mean? Well, it is possible for heroes within the TV universe to knock heads with those in the cinematic world, but it would take years of planning before anything like this would ever happen.
During the interview, Amell gave us hope after he stated that he spoke with Geoff Johns, and he left the conversation feeling great.
"The plans that Warner Bros. has, and it's a great plan, overall, and DC has for the introduction to the Justice League of America and all the standalone films, is going to take place over the course of five to six years. So who knows what could happen" said Amell. "I've had some great conversations with Geoff Johns, who is DC's Chief Creative Officer. We had this conversation shortly after these announcements were made, and I came away from the conversation feeling great."
It is not certain if whatever Amell and Johns spoke about will have an effect on the whole TV universe, or if it is about improving Amell career alone. We'd prefer if everyone on the TV side get a piece of the action, but if it is only Amell, that would still be great.
Our only hope is to see an adaptation of a Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline. If Warner Bros. can pull this off, we'd be jubilant about the future of DC properties on the TV side and cinematic side of things.
