Things have been going well for CW and DC comics. The Flash TV series launched to great success, and reception for the third season of Arrow has been strong so far. Of course, the show is only five episodes into season three, so there's still a long way to go - but even at this early stage, CW obviously has big plans for this season of Arrow.
CW just released a short trailer for the rest of Arrow season three. From what the trailer shows, it looks like the rest of the season will be focusing on the very nature of vigilantism. Such a story isn't new to long-time comic book fans, but the story could go a long way towards making Arrow the most grounded adaption of the comic yet.
Needless to say, there is a lot going on in the trailer. It's not the most accessible for new fans, sure, but it still has plenty of eye candy to pull new viewers in. Plus, there are plenty of nods to previous stories for existing fans of Arrow. There's also a big focus on 'Cupid' in the trailer, and while it may not be Valentine's Day just yet, expect a big focus on her story in upcoming episodes.
What's surprising is that CW chose not to focus on what could be the biggest draw of the entire season. The Flash and Arrow will be crossing paths later this season, and a huge crossover event is planned for early December. Fans have been hoping for such an event since The Flash was first announced, and saying that the episode is highly anticipated is an understatement. However, there was no mention of Flash whatsoever in the new trailer; it could be that CW wants to keep its two DC shows separate for the time being, but it's still a little strange that the network didn't opt for any sort of cross-promotion.
Even so, the rest of Arrow season three looks to keep the momentum going. The series has only gotten better since its debut a few years back, and that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm on CW.
