Pebble smartwatch gets Do Not Disturb feature with new update

The elves at the workshop of the Pebble smartwatch were busy recently and made sure the company will be able to release the latest version of the firmware for the wearable technology. Just in time before the holidays, Pebble rolled out the version 1.14 of the smartwatch software that now includes a Do Not Disturb function.

The smartwatch maker headlines the DND mode that allows users to turn off notifications at specific times. One can toggle the mode 'On' by going to the Settings and then Notifications of their Pebble watch.

The company announced the new PebbleOS through its official blog. The new firmware also promises better performance.

"Notifications are now sent more quickly from your iOS device to Pebble. After exiting Airplane Mode, Pebble will now search for connectable iOS devices immediately, instead of waiting one minute," the release notes read.

The Alarm App was also tweaked to have multiple alarms, alarm on-off, snooze function, and edit function for existing alarms. Users can also now choose which notifications to display, whether all notifications will be on, only phone calls, or all will be turned off.

The latest release of the PebbleOS fixed several bugs that caused recovery mode issues, dropping Bluetooth connections, caller ID for missed calls, data transfer during software updates, and vibrating feature that remains on even after dismissing or answering a phone call.

Owners of the Pebble smartwatch can update the firmware of their wearable device by just opening the Android or iOS Pebble.

Pebble also recently announced the beta version of the SDK 2.0 for developers. The latest developer software also introduces the Do Not Disturb Feature as well as the new alarm app features. Developers will also enjoy certain user interface tweaks and better stability.

The Pebble smartwatch sports an e-paper display with an LED backlight. Inside its polycarbonate casing is an 80MHz ARM Cortex-M3 chip. The watch communicates with an Apple or Android smartphone using Bluetooth 4.0. The smartwatch measures 52 x 36 x 11.5 (LxWXT) millimeters. It tips the scale at just 38 grams including its rubber or silicone band. It sells for $150.
