The Destiny Update 1.0.3 gives players two options for talking to the Guardians who they would want to fight in the game. Previously, players had been using the Fireteam Chat option in order to speak to the Guardians that the players have included in their pre-formed party. This option is signified by the speaker icon.
The latest update has added the Team Chat channel, which is then signified by the megaphone icon. This channel will include those players that were met through Matchmaking and also the members of the Fireteam that has the same selection. This type of channel is available throughout any activity that is matchmade, which would include Strikes and Crucible matches.
"It's no secret that the team who communicates with each other tends to win with each other," says Bungie. "When used strategically, your most important weapon can be your voice."
Bungie also advises the users on what they can do when they encounter a player that seems toxic and therefore should be avoided in the chat.
"Of course, Bungie cannot guarantee the quality of the teammates we'll match you with in Destiny," said Bungie. "In the event that you encounter a player who is toxic to your experience, simply revert back to Fireteam Chat or use your console-specific interface to Mute or Report Them."
The new opt-in feature can either be toggled manually or activated automatically. Players can switch back and forth, going from fireteam chat in one second to public chat the next.
The Iron Banner is getting a new version as it gears up for a return to the Tower. Bungie said that players would need a Fireteam leader at level 20 or even higher for them to enter an Iron Banner event.
Requests for voice chat with matchmade teammates were also heard. Bungie responded by saying that the feature is coming very soon in beta form. When that happens, players will be able to cycle through fireteam and initiate a chat from the navigation menu.
The new version is different from the old one in various ways. In the new version, Lord Saladin has five ranks that should be obtained through victory. Players who are below Level 20 can hang out with friends who are more powerful. Gauntlets and boots can be earned to help the player move closer to Level 30.
The Destiny Update 1.0.3 is scheduled for release on Nov. 17. Bungie warned users of a service outage on Nov. 13, which has been scheduled to give way to the surge of updates. Though there was an interruption, players are assured that their gaming experience will remain intact. This means that there's no need to download or install a new batch of content.
