Square Enix has added another candle to its year-long 30th anniversary celebration with the announcement of the re-release of its classic title Final Fantasy XII during the PAX East 2017 conference.
Dubbed as Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, the game is a remaster of the 2006 PlayStation 2 game. It will still follow the story line of Princess Ashe and company, albeit the world they will be exploring has been remade to its full high-definition glory. The announcement followed on the heels of the trailer reveal of the Final Fantasy XV Episode Gladiolus DLC.
Square Enix has also announced the Collector's Edition of The Zodiac Age, a $200 set containing the main game and various collectibles. The game will launch exclusively on PlayStation 4 on July 11 for North American and European markets, and on July 13 for Japan and other Asian regions.
'Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age'
As revealed in PAX East 2017, there have been several changes in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. The most important is the graphics enhancements. The game has been remastered into high definition, meaning its graphics that received praises during its PS2 days can now be played at 1080p resolution. Another feature that was revamped was the Gambit System, the revolutionary party-command combat mechanics.
Other features that have been improved and/or added are:
Zodiac Job System - A License Board leveling system that now caters to the player's game style
Trial Mode - Battle monsters and enemies in up to 100 consecutive battles
Speed Mode - Play the game up to 4x faster
Better Audio - True 7.1 surround sound, HD voice acting and newly recorded background music
More Gameplay Additions - PlayStation 4 Trophy system, share functions, auto-saves, shorter loading times, improved Hunts and mini-games.
Final Fantasy XII tells the epic story between the fight for supremacy, freedom, survival, and humanity in the world of Ivalice. The small Kingdom of Dalmasca is caught in the territorial wars between two superpowers, the Archadian Empire and Rozarrian Empire. The Archadian Empire captures the Kindom of Dalmasca, setting the stage for the adventures and meeting of the fates of orphan friends Vaan and Penelo, the Princess Ashe and her disgraced bodyguard Basch, and sky pirates Balthier and Fran.
