OnePlus 3 has added a feather in its cap as OnePlus has begun rolling out Google Assistant updates to the smartphone.
Earlier in February, Google announced that Google Assistant is going to be now available on Android phones powered by Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat.
Mobile phone manufacturers and carriers did not feel the requirement of a prolonged process to test the Google AI, as it will be pushed out as an over-the-air (OTA) update through Google Play Services. For Android users, Google Assistant is much more interactive than Google itself.
The news of OnePlus 3 getting the Google Assistant update came up when PhoneArena reported that it received a note from one of its readers that he had gotten the update.
What Is Google Assistant?
Google Assistant is a much-demanded improvement of Google Now, and the AI was unveiled at Google I/O developer's conference in 2016.
The workings of Google Assistant are similar to Apple's intelligent personal assistant Siri, Microsoft's Cortana and Amazon's Alexa given that they are all virtual assistants. Users can deliver verbal questions and commands and will receive the response automatically without writing anything on Google Search.
Features Of Google Assistant
One of the significant features that Google Assistant can boast of is its contextual ability.
For example, if the user asks about the box office collection of La La Land then the Assistant will show the user the exact statistics and figures.
Besides search-related activities, Google Assistant is also able to perform various functions like reminding the user of tasks and functions he or she needs to complete, translating texts, showing weather reports, a common base of control for all smart home equipment and also searching through pictures according to the context.
There are also certain kinds of actions as Google says, where the AI basically makes a connection between itself and a broader app ecosystem as well as can activate and perform certain attributes with the support of third-party integrations.
How to Use It?
Using Google Assistant is pretty easy as one just has to say "OK Google" to fire up the AI. The AI is absolutely safe to use with regard to the privacy of content shared with Google Assistant.
It is expected that 500 million Android devices will be receiving the Google Assistant update, which till now was locked only to Google's premium smartphones, Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL.
