OnePlus is rumored to be working on the successor of the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 smartphones, dubbed the OnePlus 5.
It is believed that the company will skip the OnePlus 4 naming convention and instead call the next-gen model the OnePlus 5, something similar to what Samsung did when it launched the Galaxy Note 7 after the Galaxy Note 5. The company is reportedly skipping the OnePlus 4 as the numeric four is believed to be unlucky in China.
Rumors pertaining to the OnePlus 5 have surfaced online intermittently and now the creative folks at ConceptsCreator have shared concept renders of the smartphone.
The OnePlus 5 Concept
Even though rumors have hinted at the OnePlus 5 touting a ceramic body, the concept renders show off a metal handset.
There is an increasing trend of current-gen handsets sporting a dual lens camera setup and the concept envisages the OnePlus 5 with this very feature. It is shown off having a dual camera setup with a 16MP and 12MP resolution. The creators have also included a dual LED flash in between the cameras.
The front-facing camera has been imagined to be an 8MP one and it would be perfect for all selfie lovers. ConceptsCreator also imagines the OnePlus 5 sporting a bezel-less, 5.5-inch 2K display.
The concept also imagines the OnePlus 5 housing the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and 6 GB of RAM.
The smartphone is shown in two storage options - 64 GB and 128 GB. Both are shown to offer support for expandable memory (up to 256 GB).
The battery for the OnePlus 5 has been imagined to be a colossal 4000mAh one. However, the concept does not point to the smartphone having Dash Charge support.
The concept also shows off dual speakers, as well as a ridged button. One can also espy a notification light or the "beautiful message indicator" near the upper speaker.
OnePlus 5 Concept Colors
The renders show off the OnePlus 5 in multiple hues and the Candy Red version looks quite attractive. The concept shows off two more colors for the OnePlus 5 which include Pearl White and Midnight Black. Unfortunately, there is no sign of the Soft Gold or Gunmetal hues, which are available for the OnePlus 3T.
The concept shows off the OnePlus 5 coming pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat with OxygenOS on top.
Dubbed the flagship killer, thanks to its robust specs and features, the OnePlus 4 (or the OnePlus 5) could throw the gauntlet to the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8.
