We miss Stranger Things just as much as you do, and it's been a while since we've seen our favourite characters from Hawkins, Indiana. So far all we've got are some teasers and clues about the new season, but now we know when we'll get a first look of the new season, thanks to Entertainment Weekly.
If there wasn't enough reason for you to get excited about Superbowl LI weekend, well here's another. After months of waiting, we will finally get to see a teaser of the beloved sophomore season of the Netflix hit series Stranger Things during the massive event. Known for airing some of the most entertaining ads, Superbowl LI has also aired some much awaited trailers. Now, Stranger Things Season Two is one of them.
Teaser Photo
If you still can't contain your excitement for the trailer this weekend, Entertainment Weekly has also posted a photo from the said trailer on their Instagram. The teaser photo shows beloved characters Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) in Ghostbusters costumes.
From the Halloween décor in the background, it looks like there's a logical reason for the get-up, but who really knows? There could be another, more sinister, reason. After all, Dustin does not look too happy for someone in a Ghostbusters costume and the other kids don't look like they're in costumes, too. I suppose we'll just really have to wait and see.
However, Entertainment Weekly was generous to share yet another tease: "The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn't," said Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy to EW.
Teaser Tweet
This weekend is very generous to Stranger Things fans because the show's official Twitter page tweeted out yet another cryptic teaser for the upcoming season. The photo of a grainy weekend weather forecast have led some to believe that the photo hides a secret clue regarding season two's air date. Does it? You be the judge.
What We Know So Far
What we know so far isn't really a lot because Netflix is as secretive about the show as Hawkins National Laboratory is about their experiments. However, we do know tiny bits and pieces about season two such as the new characters who will add more color to the already interesting town of Hawkins as actors Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen, to name a few, join the cast. Further, season two is also set a year after the events of season one.
Since its original airing in July of 2016, Stranger Things has since been praised by critics and nominated for a number of awards. Their latest victory is the cast's incredible win for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards where David Harbour who plays Chief Hopper delivered a powerful acceptance speech worthy of the enthusiastic standing ovation that followed it.
