HTC released the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the unlocked version of HTC One M9 back in December 2016.
At the time, HTC took to Twitter to announce that the much-awaited update will be pushed out for the U.S. unlocked variant of the One M9. Two months after that announcement HTC is ready to roll out another Android N update for the smartphone.
HTC One M9 owners residing in mainland Europe, Turkey and Africa are in for some good news. Product and service director for HTC EMEA, Mr. Graham Wheeler, took to Twitter to announce that the One M9 would be getting the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update in the above-mentioned regions.
Graham also added in a follow up tweet that the update will be pushed out for other countries in next few days. The UK, which doesn't fall in mainland Europe, will likely be getting the update in the next couple of days.
According to the HTC support webpage, the update for the One M9 will include bug fixes and the Android Security Patch for January. The OTA update weighs 2 GB and can be installed automatically or manually.
HTC One M9 Nougat Update Details
HTC advises users to first check the software number before installing the update.
"If your Software number is less than 4.23.617.1, you should proceed with the upgrade," states HTC.
To check the software version, follow the simple steps enlisted below
Step 1: Tap on to All Apps option from the Homescreen.
Step 2: Navigate to the Settings menu.
Step 3: Select About, go to Software Information to check the software version number.
HTC warns users not to remove the charger or long press the power button while the update is getting installed as the update may get stopped midway and the phone may be rendered inoperable. The company also says that the phone will reboot itself several times during the process and will show software upgrade screens and it is nothing to be worried about.
Things To Remember
Before starting the upgrade process, HTC recommends that users connect the smartphone to a charger and keep alteast 20 minutes handy for the process to get completed. It also advises users ensure that the phone has a minimum battery backup of 35 percent, as well as access to Wi-Fi. Once these conditions are fulfilled, one can easily download and install the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC One M9 smartphone.
