Hollywood actor Vin Diesel did an impromptu audition for James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" on a recent episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden. Diesel and Corden sang a rousing rendition of "Consider Yourself" from the famous show and film Oliver Twist to show off their singing skills for a potential car ride together on the wildly popular viral video segments.
Vin Diesel's Late Late Show Appearance
Superstar actor Vin Diesel has worked with Steven Spielberg, Dame Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, Charlize Theron and other Hollywood royalty, but his real wish is to appear on James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke." Diesel admitted as much in a recent episode of Corden's The Late Late Show With James Corden on CBS.
It all began when Diesel started imitating Corden's British accent during their sit-down interview. Corden had asked Diesel if he'd at any point ever consider letting himself go and stopping his regular workouts that keep him fit for his action movie roles. Diesel responded that he once had actually needed to gain weight to play a character in one of his films, recalling that he ate a full tub of ice cream to pack on the pounds.
Diesel's "Carpool Karaoke" Audition
"It was so much fun I can't even explain it to you James", Diesel exclaimed in an English accent. When a hysterical Corden joked that it sounded as if Diesel was auditioning for Oliver Twist, Diesel laughed, explaining that he had to sing "Consider Yourself" in his most recent film. Diesel sang a bit of the song and Corden immediately joined in, prompting Diesel to stand up and ask the audience "How many of you wish you could do 'Carpool Karaoke'? Am I entitled? Can I get a shot here?" he wondered.
"Can I do it in New York City in my hometown?" Diesel then asked Corden, who agreed (Our readers might remember that Corden just filmed his first "Carpool Karaoke" segment, usually shot in Los Angeles, in New York City with none other than Madonna recently.) Corden then asked Diesel "What would we sing?" to which the two then spontaneously broke back into an entertaining rendition of "Consider Yourself."
The chances of a movie actor like Diesel appearing on Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" in actuality are slim, with the segments generally sticking to singing stars like Adele, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Mariah Carey. That is one reason why the new Apple Music version of the show was created. In that upcoming series, which Corden does not host, many non-singing stars will be featured.
