Apple fans dreaming of a shiny Jet Black iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus are in luck, as the popular avatar is no longer suffering from shipping delays.
When Apple introduced its new iPhones back in September, it stirred a whole frenzy over the Jet Black color option, which quickly became quite hard to come by. The shipping dates for the Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus shipped back to November at the time, with initial stocks depleted due to heavy demand.
Apple blamed the shortage and shipping delays on the difficulty to manufacture the Jet Black finish, but the company has been trying to keep up with demand nonetheless. Back in October it revised shipping times from six to eight weeks to four to six weeks, and it now seems that Apple managed to clear the backlog and return to normal shipping times.
Jet Black iPhone 7 Availability
Apple has apparently caught up with the high demand and is now shipping the Jet Black iPhone 7 on the same day or the next day. The Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus, meanwhile, still takes a little longer. Phone Arena notes that the smartphone would ship in one to three business days, but at the time of writing Apple's site shows estimated delivery dates between Dec. 20 - 22, which would amount to roughly seven business days. Nevertheless, it's still a great improvement compared to the weeks' long wait so far.
The new shipping dates apply to both the 128 GB and 256 GB versions of the Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, either carrier models or SIM-free units. The Dec. 20-22 estimated delivery for the iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black applies to all carrier versions and the SIM-free model.
Just In Time For Christmas
Even with the longer wait times for the Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus, it still means that the elegant new smartphone will arrive just in time for the holidays. Considering that the iPhone is the most-wanted holiday gift this year, the revised shipping times are right on the clock.
The iPhone 7 was the best-selling smartphone in the United States in the third quarter according to Kantar Worldpanel and holiday demand combined with the new Jet Black availability will likely contribute to an even more successful fourth quarter for Apple.
Jet Black iPhone Scratches
If you're planning to get a Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, however, you might want to invest in a protective case as well. This finish is particularly senstitive to abrasions, which makes it more prone to scratches than other color options.
