OnePlus 3T OxygenOS 3.5.3 Update Brings Motion Detection In Camera, Enhanced Image Capturing, Bug Fixes And More

The OnePlus 3T smartphone — the updated version of the OnePlus 3 — is creating waves since its U.S. and European debuts.

It has barely been a week since the handset released in the United States and now OnePlus has revealed that it is pushing out a new software update for the new flagship.

The software update OnePlus is pushing out for the OnePlus 3T is OxygenOS 3.5.3 and it is an over-the-air (OTA) one. This is the first OTA update for the Android Marshmallow-powered OnePlus handset.

The news comes straight from the horse's mouth — a OnePlus rep who spilled the beans in the company's official forum. The rollout is an incremental one and will make its way to a few users initially.

"We are starting the roll-out of OxygenOS 3.5.3, the first OTA for the OnePlus 3T. As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days," shared Tony L., a OnePlus representative in the forum.

What Features Will The OxygenOS 3.5.3 Update Bring?

The first-ever software update for the OnePlus 3T brings in a slew of new features users' way. The update brings a redesigned clock user interface as well as a redesigned calling UI. It also adds the motion detection functionality for the camera. Photography enthusiasts will also be pleased to learn that this update also brings improved image capturing quality.

Those who encountered any problems with the camera of OnePlus 3T would hope that this update addresses the issues.

The touch panel firmware also gets updated post the arrival of OxygenOS 3.5.3 on the OnePlus 3T smartphone. The handset also gets optimized touch precision and higher stability. The GPS library also gets updated for the OnePlus 3T and also gets an enhanced location accuracy.

The firmware update also brings the OnePlus community app — which was pushed out for the OnePlus 3 smartphone in October. Users of the OnePlus 3T also benefit from several bug fixes courtesy of the update.

The OxygenOS 3.5.3 update also brings the emergency calling feature for users of the handset in India. If you are in India and would like to take advantage of the functionality, then you need to triple press the power button to trigger the feature.

When Will My OnePlus 3T Receive The Update?

The OxygenOS 3.5.3 is an OTA update and would be pushed out in phases and, therefore, could take a while to reach a user's OnePlus 3T. When the update hits one's device is also hinged on the user's region and carrier. That said, one can check for the update manually on their OnePlus 3T smartphone.

To do so, navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates.
