Pokémon Sun and Moon players stand to get a Munchlax and Snorlium Z for free via Mystery Gift thanks to Nintendo's giveaway event.
Early buyers of either game are eligible to nab the baby Snorlax as long as they purchase it by Jan. 11.
How To Get Munchlax And Snorlium Z
Step 1: To start things off, power up your Nintendo 3DS, turn on your internet connection and load Pokémon Sun or Moon.
Step 2: In the main menu, you should see your save file, Mystery Gift option and Live Competition. What you need to do here is to open Mystery Gift. Take note it might take a while for everything to be set up.
Step 3: After that, you should see a Receive Gift option. Select it and then click on Get via Internet.
Step 4: Hit up the "Munchlax and Snorlium Z for you!" to download the Pokémon and the special item it's holding.
Note: At this point, you can choose Check the Card Album to make sure you received your gift. Don't be alarmed when you don't see it there on the first page initially because it's on a different one.
Step 5: Next, head to the nearest Pokémon Center you can find, and you'll see a deliveryman wearing a yellow shirt with blue stripes and a pair of blue shorts — you can't miss him!
Step 6: Talk to the deliveryman, and he'll finally hand over Munchlax along with Snorlium Z to you. Remember, you're going to need a free slot in your party to receive the Pokémon, but there's no need to worry, as the man won't be going anywhere until you make room and get it from him.
There you have it — your very own Munchlax. Now, it should be pointed out that this is no ordinary Munchlax because it knows the moves Hold Back and Happy Hour, which are skills that the Pokémon doesn't normally learn.
What Is Snorlium Z?
For those who don't know, Snorlium Z is a Z Crystal that turns Snorlax's Giga Impact move into the Pulverizing Pancake Z-Move when it's holding it.
If you haven't seen it yet, check out the video below (it's around the 1-minute mark):
Snorlax learns Giga Impact when he hits level 35 instead of the usual 57.
Bonus Pro Tips
Munchlax evolves into Snorlax when it has high happiness, and the normal way of having it hold a Soothe Bell, giving it a bunch of Berries and winning numerous battles takes a while.
That said, we have a guide on how to increase happiness quickly by using two TM items, which could save you a lot of time.
Also, you can redownload Munchlax if you ever want to restart your game from the very beginning, which could be the case if you want to grab a shiny starter Pokémon. Basically, it's one Munchlax per save file.
It's worth mentioning that the Mythical Pokémon Magearna will also be available via Mystery Gift when The Pokémon Company posts the QR code at Pokemon.com on Dec. 5.
With everything cleared up, don't forget to check out other Pokémon Sun and Moon guides on how to get all the legendaries and Ultra Beasts and where to find Eevee, Pikachu and Growlithe.
If you still don't have Pokémon Sun and Moon, then you'll probably be glad to know that they are already up for grabs on Amazon.
