Microsoft and 2K Games are making NBA 2K17 playable on the Xbox One this weekend, but bear in mind, you'll need to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription active to partake. Players will have the option to download the game starting at 9 a.m. PST (12 p.m. EST) on Friday, Nov. 18.
The NBA 2K series has been the best of what any basketball video game has to offer. So good is the series that Electronic Arts had to cancel NBA Live 13 back in 2012. And even after returning to the series with NBA 14, the company is still playing catch up.
How Will The Free To Play Work?
According to the announcement on Xbox Wire, players will get the chance to take advantage of every mode the title has to offer. No restrictions, and whenever they accumulated any achievement, it will stick and cross over to the full game. Achievements are not the only thing that will cross over, but game saves as well. And guess what? It doesn't matter if the game is purchased before the end of the promotion or after.
After playing the game, anyone who feels like NBA 2K17 is worth a purchase should know the game will cost from 30 percent to 40 percent off during the period.
Patch 1.05 Released
With the release of the new patch, the following updates were made to the game:
- The Cleveland Cavaliers court floor has been updated to match their new 2016-17 design.
- The Golden State Warriors uniforms now have the #42 patch in honor of the late Nate Thurmond.
- Authenticity improvements to a large number of uniforms.
- Post-release shoes will now dynamically appear in your game mode saves when starting a new mode or when using a custom roster created after Oct. 15.
There's no other basketball game that comes close to the NBA 2K series, and this might not change for a while is EA continues to produce lackluster competition in the years to come.
This is the perfect time to play NBA 2K17, especially for those who own a Fitbit. Here's the thing, Fitbit is giving in-game rewards for meeting fitness goals in the real world, so that should be good enough reason to take advantage of the promotion.
A month ago, Sony teamed up with ESL for PlayStation tournaments. The first game to support this tournament, is no other than NBA 2K17. As for anyone who might be questioning how good this game is, well, let the critics speak for themselves.
