The release of the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy XV is just around the corner, as the game is set to launch on Nov. 29.
There are various preorder bonuses and special editions offered for the latest installment of the long-running Square Enix franchise, with players able to acquire extra in-game content and various collector's items by taking advantage of the promotions.
Square Enix, however, has something huge planned for a Final Fantasy XV collector's item, one that has never been seen before in the video game industry.
Meet The Audi R8 Star of Lucis
For Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix teamed up with car manufacturer Audi to create a one-of-a-kind collector's item. Named the Audi R8 Star of Lucis, the vehicle is a real-life version of the car that appeared in Kingsglaive, which is the CGI prequel movie for Final Fantasy XV.
The Audi R8 Star of Lucis packs the automobile company's V10 plus engine under its hood, but its overall design will be what will catch everybody's attention. There is so much detail crafted into the car, including the emblem of the Kingdom of Lucis and the swords enclosed in petals in the wheels, and the arbesque pattern that represents the Tenebrae oracle clan in specific parts of the body.
Audi R8 Star Of Lucis Price
With only one of these vehicles made and with it carrying the premium Audi brand, it is expected that the Audi R8 Star of Lucis would not come cheap.
The price for the vehicle has been set at 50 million yen, which is equivalent to about $470,000. A steep price, but for Final Fantasy fans who have that kind of money, being able to own the Audi R8 Star of Lucis would be a bragging right like no other.
It is not enough to simply be capable of paying the price tag though. Interested customers for the unique vehicle will need to sign up at the dedicated webpage for the vehicle on Audi's Japanese website beginning Nov. 20, at 8:00 p.m. ET. The chance to purchase the Audi R8 Star of Lucis will then be raffled off.
Other Final Fantasy XV News
A recent report revealed that Square Enix has teamed up with MZ, the developer of popular smartphone games Game of War and Mobile Strike, to develop a mobile MMO based on Final Fantasy XV. Not much is currently known about the upcoming game, however.
It was also reported that Final Fantasy XV will have an online co-op mode, but only as a part of the Comrade DLC for the game that will be part of the $25 season pass or can be purchased separately.
