The first Pokémon a player selects is one that will oftentimes accompany them throughout their entire journey. With that in mind, it's always exciting to see what the cute, lovable starter Pokémon evolve into as they become more powerful over time.
Nintendo isn't spoiling everything just yet, but the company has released a new trailer that shows off the second form of Pokémon Sun & Moon's starter pocket monsters Litten, Rowlet and Popplio.
Litten's second form, Torracat, looks fierce in a way that many other second evolutions do. Less cute and more angry seems to be Torracat's style, so fans might want to expect a ferocious-looking final evolution for the fire cat. Here's what Nintendo has to say about the creature in its official description:
"The bell-like object attached at the base of Torracat's neck is a flame sac, an organ that can produce flames," Nintendo writes. "Torracat's emotions cause a rise in the organ's temperature, and when the organ spits flames, it rings with the high, clear sound of a bell. Torracat attacks using the flames emitted from this bell."
The grass owl Rowlet evolves into Dartrix, a happy-looking owl that also features Rowlet's now-signature leaf bowtie. Dartrix even does a hair flip, essentially confirming that it's the hipster of the bunch. Here's Nintendo's official description of the owl:
"Revealing a certain snobbiness in its personality, Dartrix cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment," Nintendo writes. "In truth, it's also a bit of a birdbrain, with a tendency to bungle things up. Once it makes a mistake, it sometimes gets into a desperate struggle to gloss over the situation and ends up making a bigger mess than ever."
Last but not least is Popplio's evolution, Brionne. The water Pokémon is definitely the most feminine of the bunch, even appearing to wear a dress. Here's what Nintendo says about the pocket monster:
"Brionne learns its dances by imitating the other members of its colony," Nintendo writes. "It sometimes even learns dances from humans. This Pokémon is a hard worker and pours itself into its efforts until it has memorized each dance. As it dances, Brionne creates balloon after balloon. In battle, it first sends its opponent into disarray with its dancing, and then slaps its balloons into its target, causing the balloons to explode and deal damage."
Fans may have already gotten a glimpse at the final forms of each of these Pokémon if leaked images are to be believed, and judging from these official second evolutions, we're going to go ahead and say they probably are. If you want to be spoiled, you can look at them here.
The new evolutions weren't the only thing Nintendo revealed in the game's latest trailer. Mega Evolutions are returning for Pokémon Sun & Moon, as the trailer also details the game's Festival Plaza mode, where players can fulfill requests for another in order to purchase various prizes.
Nintendo also announced a demo for Pokémon Sun & Moon will be arriving on Oct. 18, exactly one month before the game's official release. Those who download the demo and later purchase Pokémon Sun & Moon will receive Ash's special Greninja from the Pokémon anime.
Pokémon Sun & Moon releases on Nov. 18.
