The next-generation iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are one of the most awaited devices of this year. Latest reports suggest that Apple has hiked the order quantities of parts and components in anticipation of the high demand for the smartphone.
Apple's event is scheduled for Sept. 7 during which the company is expected to launch a number of new devices, but the focus will be on the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Rumors of the next-gen iPhones have been doing the rounds for several months now, and most of them are about the phones having top-end features.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has also predicted that the iPhone 7 will pack in novel features, which could attract many customers.
Apple has ordered between 72 million and 78 million new iPhones for 2016, which had topped analysts' expectation by 20 percent. Apple has a huge fan base and needs not exert much in selling the new iPhones. In fact, the company normally sells millions of units within the launch weekend.
It seems that this time round Apple is more confident that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will perform well in the smartphone space.
DigiTimes cites sources in Apple's supply chain in Taiwan and reports that the company has raised the orders for iPhone 7 parts and components by 10 percent.
"The hike in order volumes indicates that Apple still remains positive about replacement demand for new iPhones from existing iPhone users, said the sources," reports the Taiwanese publication.
The reason for Apple hiking the parts and components order for the iPhone 7 could be because of the positive feedback received by analysts. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are available in four colors: Gold, Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold. If rumors are to be believed then the iPhone 7 could be available in one more color option — blue.
According to previous reports, the upcoming iPhones could have dual-camera setup and offer better optical zoom. They could also be waterproof, bringing them at par with other top-end mobile phones available in the market.
The iPhone 7 could also be the thinnest iPhone ever produced by Apple. Rumors have surfaced that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus may not include a 3.5 mm jack and Apple may be producing wireless earphones for the devices. The absence of the audio jack will enable the company to make the smartphone thinner.
Sept. 7 is just around the corner, so iFans will have to wait just another few days for Apple to officially take the wraps off the iPhone 7 and reveal its specs.
