Apple is all set to launch the next-generation iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus at its event on Sept. 7. Reports suggest that the company may also launch Beats by Dre products at the same event.
The upcoming Apple event is undoubtedly one of the biggest events of this year and iFans are looking forward to catch the first glimpse of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. However, this year, Apple may also introduce a few Beats products along with its new iPhones.
French publication iGeneration reports that it received an email from a Beats PR team member noting that "a selection of new Beats by Dre products will be unveiled" at the Sept. 7 event.
Apple acquired Beats Electronics in August 2014 for $3 billion, which is the biggest acquisition in the company's history. However, the iPhone maker has never announced Beats products at its Apple event that normally takes place in September each year.
Beats is known for producing top-quality audio products such as headphones and Bluetooth speakers. The purported email from the Beats PR team did not reveal what products will be launched at the Apple event but the company may introduce Beats earphones for the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
All previous-generation iPhones included a 3.5 mm audio jack. However, speculations are rife that the standard audio jack on the next-gen iPhones may give way to wireless earphones dubbed AirPods. Leaked images of the iPhone 7 Plus show that the Apple smartphone does not have a 3.5 mm audio jack. Beats, being a subsidiary company of Apple, may produce these wireless earphones for the iPhone 7.
Some market observers believe that the iPhone 7 package may not include Beats-branded products and the rumored Beats wireless earphone could be sold separately.
It is also worth noting that none of the existing Beats products features Lightning-connected headphones; however, the Beats Pill+ speaker comes with a female Lightning port for charging.
The absence of 3.5 mm jack will not only make new iPhone owners go cord-free but it also hints that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus would be the thinnest ever iPhone ever created by Apple.
Apple has not revealed any details of the Sept. 7 event, but rumors suggest that a new Apple Watch may share the stage with the next-gen iPhones. However, if the rumors are legit then iFans may also see new earphones from Beats at the event.
The Apple event is just a few days away and iFans will have to wait and see if the company actually launches Beats products alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
