'Overwatch' Competitive Mode Penalizes Legit Players, Blizzard To Fix Issues Next Week

Overwatch Competitive Play mode just rolled out recently, but it came with some issues that need to be ironed out as soon as possible.

Players have reported that when they get disconnected in the middle of a game and reconnect to continue the fight, they end up getting punished for it, affecting their Skill Rating and receiving a loss even when their team wins the match.

"There are a ton of threads on this issue now but I haven't seen a blue post addressing it yet. People are experiencing a disconnect from a game and then quickly reconnecting. Their team wins and they either get a loss in placement matches or they loose [sic] skill rating," a user who goes by the name of LeftyChev posted on the Blizzard forums.

Originally, the system is not supposed to penalize players who reconnect to an ongoing match and finish it. To keep everyone's hopes up, Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan responded on the thread and said that a fix is on the way.

"We have some fixes coming (hopefully) next week," he replied.

Unfortunately, he did not continue to explain what was going on any further, but as long as the problem is about to be remedied, that's more or less what really matters at this point.

For those who don't know, Competitive Play mode is already available across the PC, Xbox One and PS4, even though the console version was first announced to arrive sometime this week.

In other related news, Blizzard is cracking down on players who abuse the server crash glitch with Hanzo or Genji. That just goes to show how dedicated the people behind the game are in keeping things fair and in tip-top shape.

What's more, the developers put in a lot of effort in making Overwatch fun as evidenced by the new confetti special effect whenever someone successfully shoots the basketball through the hoop found in certain spawn rooms.

It's also worth mentioning that Blizzard paid a tribute to a huge fan who sadly passed away one day before the official launch inside the game. His name was plastered on a space suit in Chinese characters that read "Hongyu," and above it on the red backdrop, the phrase "Heroes never die" is written.

At any rate, have you been wrongly punished in Overwatch Competitive Play mode? If so, drop by our comments section below and let us know.
