Xbox is about to have its biggest sale of the year: the annual Ultimate Games Sale. This year, the savings are huge: get anywhere from 40 to 60 percent off on games for the PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
This year, Microsoft promises that it will feature over 250 deals. However, gamers can also save on Windows 10 titles for the first time ever, as well as get special pricing to purchase an Xbox One. Xbox Gold members will see even larger discounts and get up to an additional 10 percent off.
"A few of these deals are fan favorites and new games such as The Division's first DLC, ARK: Survival Evolved, DOOM, Dark Souls 3, and Quantum Break," Microsoft wrote on the Xbox website. "In addition, there will be deals on several Xbox One Backward Compatibility games such as The Witcher 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike: GO, and South Park: The Stick of Truth, all now playable on Xbox One."
PC games getting discounts include Quantum Break, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
However, the sale covers more than just games: now might provide a good opportunity to finally upgrade from Xbox 360 to an Xbox One, especially with the list of backward compatible games continuing to grow on a regular basis.
"Get Xbox One at our new low price: $279 for a limited time," Microsoft wrote. "Plus, get a $50 gift code when you shop at the Microsoft Store. With epic game discounts on the way there's never been a better time to pick up an Xbox One."
A full list of the deals and discounts will go up on Major Nelson's blog on July 3: players can purchase the discounted games and consoles directly from the Xbox website as of July 5.
Meanwhile, Sony will wrap up its PlayStation Mid-Year Sale on July 5. Although that sale didn't feature as many recent titles, PlayStation 4 owners can still pick up Doom for $41.99, along with LittleBigPlanet 3 for $7.99, Homefront: The Revolution for $44.99, the Tales from the Borderlands season pass for $5.99 and Grim Fandango Remastered for $2.99. PlayStation 3 owners can get LittleBigPlanet 3 for $2.99, Tales of Xillia for $5.99, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell for $7.49, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 for $5.99 and LEGO: The Hobbit for $9.99.
PC owners can take advantage of Steam's annual summer sale, but will have to act fast: it ends on July 4. The discounts and deals change daily on that site, so players should keep checking for titles they want.
