Microsoft is currently running a bundled offer exclusively on its online and retail stores to target incoming students for the upcoming school year.
Running as "Xbox One Bundle for Students," the package requires consumers to purchase any Microsoft Surface device before they can avail the free Xbox One console.
Interested buyers may save up to $499 from the package, which in totality includes any Surface Book or a Surface Pro 4, an Xbox One console, an extra Xbox One controller, a free game (technically two free games, since the Xbox console comes with its own set) and a $50 Microsoft Store gift voucher.
Surface Book choices include a 128 GB version starting at $1,259, a 256 GB version starting at $1,459, a 512 GB version for $2,459 and a 1 TB version for $2,959.
The Surface Pro 4 variants include a 128 GB version starting at $659, a 256 GB version starting at $1,059, a 512 GB version starting at $1,459 and a 1 TB version for $2,459.
The Xbox One sets include a Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle, Rainbow Six Siege bundle, Tom Clancy's The Division bundle, Special Edition Quantum Break bundle, an Xbox One Spring bundle and The LEGO Movie Videogame bundle. Game titles that consumers can choose from, alongside the Xbox One sets, are limited to Just Dance 2016, The Crew and Assassin's Creed Unity.
Those looking to add a keyboard to Surface Pro 4 have the option to add "Type Covers" while other optional items include Surface accessories, Microsoft Complete and the Microsoft Office Suite. It is important to note that these items are not included in the package price and come as separate purchases.
Microsoft adds that the bundles are only limited to students and others who qualify:
"Only available to K-12, higher education students, parents purchasing on behalf of students, education institution employees, faculty, staff, school board and PTA/PTO executives for K-12 and higher education institutions."
In addition, the offer is only limited to purchases that have either a Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 tablet and an Xbox One Console and will not be compatible with other offers the company is currently running.
Xbox One Bundle for Students will run from June 29 until Aug. 14 or until supplies last and will be available in retail stores in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada as well as the Microsoft Online Store.
