Samsung's rumored new flip phone, the Galaxy Folder 2, could possibly be in the works, as new details about the said handset have emerged via GFXBench website.
Could Get A Bump In Specs
Judging from the leaked specs, it seems that the purported Galaxy Folder heir could be treated with a bump in its specs under the hood.
Last year's model arrived fitted with a 2 MP front-facing snapper. The phone that recently appeared via GFXBench comes with a 5 MP one. Furthermore, the Galaxy Folder 2 could include an 8 MP camera on its back.
Its internal storage has also been beefed up. It is said to be crammed with a 16 GB built-in storage, up from the 8 GB on last year's unit.
This phone rocks a Snapdragon 425 chipset with quad-core 1.4 GHz CPU, up from 1.2 GHz in 2015's Galaxy Folder. Its RAM has also increased by 33 percent. Now, the phone boasts a 2 GB one.
However, its screen size is expected to be similar to the phone's predecessor, which is 3.8 inches and offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Design-wise, we could expect it to sport a polycarbonate shell plus metal hinge. In terms of its operating system, it might come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI laid on top.
Price And Release Date
At the moment, details are still scarce regarding its exact release date and its price. Rumor has it, though, that it could see the light of day this coming month and could hit store shelves a few months after, very much like what it did with last year's Galaxy Folder flip phone. Moreover, since rumors about the existence of the said phone have begun emerging online, it is possible that the phone's announcement might just be around the corner.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Galaxy Folder could only be available in Asia. Speculation is rife that the smartphone could be initially launched in China, then in South Korea. Though we still have yet to hear Samsung's official word whether it has plans in bringing the phone in other markets across the globe. In any case, those who are interested to snag one might want to import as soon as it is released.
As for the price, reports say that the device could carry a $250 price tag.
Appearance On Zauba
Tech Times recently reported that import database Zauba listed a particular phone that has the model number SM-G1600 — probably the Galaxy Folder successor. In the said listing, it's also mentioned that it could feature a 3.8-inch display and that it could be released in China in the near future.
The phone's appearance on Zauba, though, does not signify that it could soon land in India. The handset has only headed in the country for evaluation and testing.
