Samsung might be working on its new flip phone — one which is possibly a successor to its Galaxy Folder.
Not so long ago, it was revealed that the South Korea-based Galaxy maker is baking a successor to its Galaxy Folder (SM-G150). Just recently, it has been discovered that import database Zauba lists a certain smartphone that bears the model number SM-G1600. The phone has headed to India not for retail sale but for evaluation and testing, according to the site.
Not much is known about this upcoming Samsung device, but judging from a few details that cropped up on the import listing site, it appears that this phone could sport a 3.8-inch display, and it could be initially be released in China down the road.
Galaxy Folder 2015
In July last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Folder — an Android Lollipop flip smartphone rocking a 3.8-inch touchscreen display.
The Samsung announcement of its own flip phone fairly came hot on the heels of LG's introduction of its flip phone model dubbed LG Gentle.
When the Galaxy Folder was introduced during the time, it was said that the phone would begin hitting the store shelves in South Korea August of last year.
Surprisingly, this Samsung phone also features a 3.8-inch touchscreen display (the same as what the phone that recently popped up on Zauba reportedly has). It is also interesting to note that the Galaxy Folder features a single display, unlike previous flip phone models from the company that featured displays on the inside and on the outside of the phone's top half part.
In terms of its specs, the flip phone carries an 8-megapixel rear snapper, quad-core processor, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 8 GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity option along with a microSD slot (for those who require more storage).
As opposed to what's in store in the LG Gentle, the specs under Galaxy Folder's hood is said to be greater than the former's.
It is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy Folder 2015 is an update to the 2013 model that had the same name.
In any case, it is expected that this year's edition will likely be fitted with more impressive specs than what the Galaxy Folder 2015 delivered. For instance, while the alleged upcoming Samsung flip phone is purported to have the same screen size as the last year's model, it is hoped that this could rock a higher pixel count this time around.
Moreover, we have not heard any details yet with regard to its release date. But it could probably be unwrapped this coming month and will be rolled out a few months after, just like what Samsung did with the Galaxy Folder last year.
Consumers in the United States should not also get their hopes up, as the new Galaxy Folder will probably land only in Asia as what rumors are saying. If interested, then you would possibly want to import one.
