If you've been hankering for the Moto G4 Plus smartphone and are unable to wait for Lenovo's promise of a mid-summer launch, you're in luck - Amazon is now retailing the factory unlocked variant of the handset in the United States.
Earlier in May we reported that Lenovo took the wraps off the Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 smartphones, the successors to the third-gen Moto G handset. It also revealed the Moto G4 Play.
While the Moto G4 Plus has hit the retail shelves in India and Canada, it is yet to make its way to more global markets. The smartphone's exact release date in the United States also remains shrouded in mystery, even though neighbor Canada benefited from the Android-powered smartphone's release on June 22 as rumored.
Even as U.S. consumers wait for major network operators to open preorders for the Moto G4 Plus, e-retailer Amazon has jumped the queue and has begun offering the much-awaited smartphone.
The 16 GB unlocked variant of the Moto G4 Plus smartphone has been listed by seller Mobiles International LLC for $339.99. The seller only had 20 units of the Moto G4 Plus smartphone remaining in stock at the time of writing and was offering it in two hues: black or white. You also get free shipping.
However, considering that the 16 GB unlocked models of the Moto G4 Plus smartphone are priced at $199 or INR 13,499 in India and CAD 410 (approximately $314) for those in Canada, the retailer is charging more than what would be the official price from Motorola.
The unlocked variant of the Moto G4 Plus smartphone is GSM/LTE compatible and will work with T-Mobile and AT&T. However, if you are on Sprint, U.S. Cellular or Verizon Wireless, then the factory unlocked model of the handset will be of no use as it is not CDMA/LTE compatible.
The Moto G4 Plus, like sibling Moto G4, sports a 5.5-inch FHD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution. It also boasts Gorilla Glass 3 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, as well as 2 GB of RAM.
However, unlike its sibling, it houses a better 16-megapixel primary camera with OmniVision sensor, Professional mode, laser autofocus and Phase Detection. Selfie lovers have a 5-megapixel camera at their disposal. It also packs in a powerful 3,000 mAh battery with TurboPower charging support.
The Moto G4 Plus also comes with a fingerprint scanner in tow. It can support up to five fingerprints.
