Syfy Reveals April's Fate Just A Month Before 'Sharknado: The 4th Awakens'

When Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! ended, fans of the franchise did not know the fate of one of the main characters of the movies, April Wexler, as portrayed by Tara Reid. Did April live or die?

Syfy decided to let those fans decide if April lived or died by launching a massive social campaign that allowed viewers to vote, using the #AprilLive and #AprilDie hashtags.

Now, the network has added up all the votes and has officially revealed the results to the most asked pop culture question of the year: did April survive Sharknado 3 to return for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens?

Please note that the following contains a mild spoiler for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens (that is, for those who are actually worried about Sharknado spoilers).

It seems that April has a lot of fans and viewers who want her return: the good news is that Reid will reprise her role as the character in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens. In other words, April lives!

Here's the official announcement trailer from Syfy:

Sharknado: The 4th Awakens will pick up five years after the third movie in the franchise. Fin (Ian Ziering) and his family, along with the world, have been sharknado-free since then. However, sharknados being what they are, always return, and now, they'll get "whipped up in places (and ways) least expected." Expect chaos and a lot of funny moments to ensue.

Fortunately, Fin and company have even more friends hopping on board to save the world from the sharknado threat, including April's dad, as played by Gary Busey. The film also co-stars Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Cody Linley, Masiela Lusha and Cheryl Tiegs.

As always, though, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens will feature a lot of hilarious cameos, too, including Carrot Top as an Uber driver, Gilbert Gottfried as a Today Show correspondent, Steve Guttenberg as a car owner, Paul Shaffer as himself, Slipknot's Corey Taylor as a hotel security guard, David Faustino as a gambler, Dr. Drew Pinsky as a pastor, Wayne Newton as himself, Stacey Dash as the mayor of Chicago and many more, including many social media celebrities.

It also seems that Vegas is one of the settings for the new movie, so fans can get excited about watching the sharknado ravage the Strip.

So, batten down the hatches and go hide in the cellar: Sharknado: The 4th Awakens lands on Syfy on July 31.
