The Villains Want To Come Out And Play In New 'Suicide Squad' Trailer

"I want to assemble a task force of the most dangerous people on the planet," Amanda Waller says in a new trailer for Suicide Squad.

The trailer highlights a little more of the movie that brings together some of DC Comics' most infamous villains, including the Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot and more. This trailer will air during the NBA Finals, but Warner Bros. also recently released it online.

In Suicide Squad, this team of criminal misfits comes together to help Waller take on a far more evil threat. It's not that they're qualified to do so, though: this group of dangerous villains is also expendable, which is the entire point of them coming together.

Although this group is dark and twisted, the movie is still only rated PG-13. Many fans thought DC might aim for an R rating, especially after the success of Fox's R-rated Deadpool, but it seems that DC wants to bring in the teenagers, too, and that is possibly a smart bet.

Here's the new trailer:

As it stands, the film is already famous for Jared Leto's controversial depiction of the Joker. Not only does Leto's Joker look stand out from other versions of the character, but news from the set had the method actor doing a lot of really weird things, such as giving gifts of dead pigs and live rats to his fellow cast members.

Leto went into the role understanding that he needed to put his own dark stamp on it and sat down with director David Ayer early on to flesh out his approach to the Joker.

"I knew I was going to have to dive deep and go to a place I had never gone before," Leto said to Total Film. "We sat outside his house and talked and it was clear he wanted to make something really different. He wanted to break some rules, and that's very compelling. I got the sense he was on a mission. This wasn't just a movie for him."

Meanwhile, although no one has actually seen the movie yet, Margot Robbie's take on Harley Quinn already has comic book fans buzzing with anticipation, especially with this being the first live-action version of the character (save for a small scene in the Arrow TV series where fans once heard Harley's signature voice). Thanks to the buzz, Warner Bros. and DC recently committed to giving Harley her own solo movie.

Suicide Squad lands in theaters on Aug. 5.
