Move over, pumpkin spice: Starbucks may have a new flavor that will take the world by storm, and that flavor is beer. Beer-flavored coffee. More specifically, dark stout-flavored coffee.
Yes, this is real. While not available at all locations just yet, the "Dark Barrel Latte" from Starbucks is coffee made with a flavored syrup that supposedly tastes like a dark stout. The drink is topped off with whip cream (of course!) and a dark caramel sauce, according to the Irish Independent.
Right now the drink is only available in select locations around the United States. A writer from Buzzfeed got the opportunity to try out the beer-flavored beverage in Columbus, Ohio and said "It does taste remarkably like stout." Just for clarification, there is absolutely no real beer in the drink.
Yes, but does tasting "remarkably like stout" make it any good? The reaction on social media so far is mixed, with some people remarking on how delicious the drink is, others commenting on how awful it is, and more still chiming in to inform us that yes, it really does taste like beer.
On paper the idea of combining two of the most popular types of drinks in the world seems genius, but Starbucks will be the one to decide if the drink will go nationwide. Until then, you could always just pour your beer into your coffee and make your own. That is basically the same thing, right?
