Who drinks the most coffee? The answer may surprise you

How many cups of coffee do you inhale each day? Well then you may be included in the list below.

A new survey from marketing firm Pressat revealed which professionals drink the most cups of coffee per day. Here are the top 10:

1. Journalists and media staffers

2. Police officers

3.Teachers

4. Plumbers and trade workers

5. Nurses and medical staff

6. Company executives

7. Telesales

8. IT technical support

9. Retail staff

10. Drivers

Pressat surveyed 10,000 professionals, out of which 85 percent stated that they drink at least three cups of coffee a day and 70 percent said that their ability to do their job would be hurt if they went without their daily cup of coffee.

The most caffeinated people drank over four cups per day, to deal with the stress of their jobs. Apparently journalists say they drink more java than cops said they do, revealing that media believe they are more stressed out than police feel they are.

Research conducted by the University of South Carolina suggests the daily recommended dose of caffeine should not be more than two mugs of coffee. Drinking more coffee than that limit could increase a person's health risks, through a higher risk of strokes and anxiety, as well as cardiovascular issues.

"Our study indicates that drinking one to three cups of coffee a day is safe. More than that could put your health at risk," Mei Sui, who led the USC study, said. "For now, we recommend that younger people should avoid heavy coffee consumption."

Sui is using a basic definition of the word "cup," meaning 6 to 8 ounces and not a towering cup from Starbucks.

Unfortunately, an estimated 62 percent of the workers interviewed did not know of the health risks associated with coffee drinking, according to Pressat survey. Other such facts came out of the survey, which you can find in the infographic from Pressat posted below.
