Wasting no time in reassuring customers that Android N would be coming to their smartphones, HTC has confirmed it will release the upcoming Android 7.0 update to the HTC 10, One M9 and One A9.
Google just held its annual Google I/O developers conference and gave a preview of the next major version of Android, currently called "Android N."
If you're wondering what sweet-themed treat it will be named after, which will follow in the footsteps of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), KitKat (Android 4.4), Lollipop (Android 5.0), and Marshmallow (Android 6.0), Google is asking the public to name the next version of Android and is taking suggestions.
Android N capitalizes on the success of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and offers enhancements such as allowing smartphone and tablet users to run two apps in both horizontal and portrait mode.
Google also focused on notifications in Android N and cleaned up its appearance for a more uniformed, tighter and cleaner look that now offers more functionality with new buttons and quick access to Wi-Fi, Battery, Flashlight and more.
Android N also brings themes to the stock Google keyboard, which allows users to select different color options than the standard black and white, and there are also more power saving enhancements in Android N.
Android N is expected to be released by Google in October and it's rumored to make its debut on HTC-built Nexus devices, but owners of Nexus smartphones and tablets can currently install the new software on their devices.
Soon after Google officially showed off Android N, HTC quickly took to Twitter to reassure customers that the company will offer an update to Android N.
In small print, HTC notes that the software is coming to additional devices, which will be announced later this year when Google ships Android N to manufacturers.
