Verizon has become the first U.S carrier to announce launch plans for the HTC 10. The carrier will begin taking preorders for the smartphone beginning on April 29, although it hasn't revealed what it will charge for the device.
HTC got a later start than it has in previous years in launching its next-generation smartphone, the HTC 10. The company sat out Mobile World Congress in February and watched Samsung unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and LG take the wraps off of the LG G5.
While HTC wasn't ready to reveal the HTC 10 at Mobile World Congress, the company's CFO made sure to issue a statement claiming its upcoming smartphone would offer users a "very, very compelling camera experience" and noted the comment was made after it saw what was going on in the market, taking a direct swipe at Samsung and LG.
A few weeks after Mobile World Congress, HTC announced it would hold a press event on April 12 and quickly began releasing teasers on Twitter stating its new smartphone would have "world first, and world class front and back" cameras and then turned its attention to the smartphone's new BoomSound speakers.
At HTC's press event, it announced the HTC 10 would go on sale in May but never revealed an exact date. Verizon has become the first U.S. carrier to announce its HTC 10 launch plans.
"Verizon will start preorders for the HTC 10 on April 29. In addition, Verizon Wireless stores will host exclusive in-store previews on April 29 to give consumers and media a hands-on look at the HTC 10. Verizon will be the first wireless carrier to offer the HTC 10," says Verizon to DroidLife.
Verizon hasn't revealed what it plans on charging for the HTC 10 when it opens preorders but customers should expect its price to be similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. We'll keep you posted on any new HTC 10 details.
