Rumors of the next-generation OnePlus 3 have been doing the rounds for many months. Now, images of the smartphone have leaked online.
Such images of the OnePlus 3 were initially spotted on Weibo but only showed the front and back of the handset, with a physical home button at the front and a camera with flash at the back.
The photos do not actually reveal much about the OnePlus 3, but rumors about the device have increased in the past few months, which suggest that it may be launched sooner than later.
Twitter handle @Krispi has also posted the leaked images of the OnePlus 3 as well as some photos of the purported packaging of the smartphone.
After the success of the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2, the OnePlus 3 remains one of the most-anticipated mobile phones of this year. The Chinese smartphone maker has not confirmed any details of the OnePlus 3 but the smartphone space is full with specs rumors of the device.
The OnePlus 3 is estimated to sport a 5.5-inch screen with a display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor is expected to power the OnePlus 3.
Some rumors point out that the OnePlus 3 will be available in two variants: one with 64 GB internal storage and 4 GB of RAM and the other with 32 GB on-board storage and 3 GB of RAM. Speculations also suggest that the OnePlus 3 may be available with 128 GB of storage as well.
The upcoming OnePlus offering may be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear-facing and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera of the OnePlus 2 had optical image stabilization (OIS) and it is highly expected that the feature will also be available in the next-gen OnePlus 3. The handset may get a bigger 3,500 mAh battery, which will also support fast charging.
The OnePlus 3 may come running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.
Further rumors suggest that the smartphone may be unveiled in June. The 32 GB model is expected to bear a price tag of $308 while the 64 GB variant may cost $385, which is relatively cheaper than many top-end phones available in the market.
OnePlus advertised the OnePlus 2 as the flagship killer; however, the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6, iPhone 6s, and more were better in terms of specs. It remains to be seen if the OnePlus 3 will be at par with existing flagships such as the HTC 10, Galaxy S7, and more.
