The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Cyanogen OS 13 for the OnePlus One will be rolled out on Saturday, April 9.
OnePlus (India) also confirmed on its blog regarding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the OnePlus One.
"OnePlus One fans rejoice! For there is sweet update goodness in the wings pretty soon," says OnePlus. "Our friends over at Cyanogen have informed us that CM 13.0 (ZNH0EAS26M) based on Marshmallow will drop starting tomorrow. The rollout will be staged so only some of you (random) will get it at first, and as always, patience is appreciated."
Many OnePlus One owners are excited with the latest update and are waiting for the new software.
"Thanks for the sweet update.;) will be feeling as newer device with this cos too late update. Oneplus one will never be old. Always support by the developer," says an OnePlus One owner.
The blog has created some confusion amongst OnePlus One users as it mentions CM 13.0, instead of COS 13.0.
"Agreed. Helen probably meant COS13, not CM13. It seems as if CyanogenOS 13 is a incredibly complex sequence of symbols icomprehendable to some human minds," says another OnePlus One owner.
Chinese company OnePlus launched its first smartphone the OnePlus One in April 2014. The OnePlus One attracted thousands of customers as it included top-end features with a reasonable price tag. The handset is available in markets with Android-based CyanogenMod operating system pre-installed.
The OnePlus One came running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat-based CyanogenMod 11S and it has received a number of software updates in the last couple of years. Now with the latest update OnePlus One customers will be able to experience Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their phones.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings a number of new features and power management tools such as Doze and App Standby, which improves battery efficiency. OnePlus One owners will only hope that the software update goes on smoothly without any issues.
In August 2015, the OnePlus One received Cyanogen OS 12.1, which was meant to bring a number of new features but it introduced many errors such as dialer issue, battery drain problems and more to the OnePlus One handsets.
"I installed this update and my phone is stuck on one plus one logo screen.. tried everything from recovery mode nothing worked.. tried fastboot mode even that doesnt work," complained a OnePlus One user after installing Cyanogen OS 12.1.
While the company suggests that the software update for the OnePlus One will begin rolling out on Saturday, some customers may have to wait longer as the update will be rolled out in phases.
