The highly anticipated OnePlus 3 just leaked again, this time with NFC connectivity and a hefty 6 GB of RAM in tow.
Not too long ago, an AnTuTu benchmark for the OnePlus 3 with model number A3000 revealed the core specifications of the device, offering a glimpse of what to expect.
At the time, it seemed like the OnePlus 3 would come with 4 GB of RAM, but it now looks like a much heftier RAM could be in the cards. A new benchmark leaked online shows the device with 6 GB of RAM, and a separate listing on OppoMart also features the OnePlus 3 with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM options.
Aside from the RAM department, other specs expected to grace the OnePlus 3 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage configurations, a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, an 8-megapixel front camera, and NFC support.
The OnePlus 3 will apparently have a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), similar to the OnePlus 2. On the software front, the smartphone should run a customized version of the OEM's OxygenOS platform, based on Android Marshmallow.
Previous rumors suggested that the handset could make its debut sometime in May. The OnePlus 3 will arrive as the fourth smartphone in the company's lineup. The OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 were both dubbed "flagship killers," packing high-end specs at affordable price points, while the OnePlus X offers midrange specifications, targeting more budget-conscious shoppers.
The OnePlus 3 could either launch as another "flagship killer," or come somewhere in between the midrange and high-end segments of the smartphone market. The Snapdragon 820 and 6 GB of RAM definitely belong in the high-end area, but the 1080p display falls behind the recent trend of QHD smartphones.
If previous launches are any indication, OnePlus will likely release its new smartphone employing the same dreaded invite system the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X launched with. That scheme stirred quite some controversy and criticism, as many interested customers were unable to get their hands on a OnePlus smartphone because they didn't have an invitation.
It's all in the rumor state until the company makes an official announcement, so it's highly recommended to take all OnePlus 3 rumors, leaks and reports with a grain of salt.
