The OnePlus 3 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of this year and some new concept images now show what it could look like.
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is rumored to launch its latest and greatest flagship sometime in the second quarter of this year. The OnePlus 3 is expected to rock an overhauled design compared to its predecessors, but the company has not offered many details in this regard.
OnePlus quickly rose in popularity thanks to its high-end "flagship killers" that offer powerful specs at a fraction of the cost of other flagship smartphones. Both the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2 stirred great interest so far, and the OnePlus 3 is expected to see even higher demand.
The company reportedly put a lot of effort into redesigning the OnePlus 3 and the newly leaked images indeed show notable differences compared to the design language of the OnePlus 2.
The OnePlus 3 concept images come from Chinese technology blog Mobile-Dad and show a sleek device with an elegant, chamfered metal frame. The front camera seems to be located on the top right side, while a speaker grille comes in the middle, slightly higher than the camera module. At the bottom, the OnePlus 3 apparently features a physical home button, which should house a fingerprint sensor.
On the rear, the OnePlus 3's main camera seems to have a dual-tone LED flash. The familiar "1+" logo rests below the camera.
The OnePlus 3 further has a USB Type-C port, an alert slider and a dedicated camera button.
When it comes to hardware specifications, the OnePlus 3 is expected to sport a 5.5-inch full HD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 powerhouse under the hood, boast 4 GB of RAM and run Android 6 Marshmallow out of the box. The handset should also come with a 20-megapixel rear camera.
The OnePlus 3 will make its official debut in June, as OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei recently confirmed. The smartphone could cost roughly $350 unlocked.
As always, take all leaks, rumors and speculation with a grain of salt until the official announcement. In the meantime, we're still waiting for some higher-quality images to surface and offer a better look at the OnePlus 3 design.
