Screenshots of the The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC expansion pack's Steam site have leaked, showing a potential release date of May 30.
The DLC site was live long enough for Twitter user Wario64 to grab a screenshot of the page before it was taken down.
Previously rumored to launch on June 7, the highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion is expected to add at least 20 hours of additional gameplay and a new region, Toussaint, to explore. This new region is rumored to be as large as the Skellige Islands from the main game.
"Explore an entirely new part of The Witcher's vast open world -- the land of wine, Toussaint," reads the description from CD Projekt Red, according to the alleged screenshot.
Additional features include a player-owned vineyard, a new city to explore Toussaint's capital Beauclair, multiple side quests and activities including a new Skellige Gwent deck, and a final quest to conclude the Witcher's saga.
As with other Witcher games, player choice is a key area of focus as there are hints to multiple endings and choices in the leaked description of the expansion pack. A new feature includes the ability to customize your armor and appearance using dyes.
The screenshots released in April by CD Projekt Red show Geralt of Rivia walking through a thick fairytale-esque forest surrounded by giant mushrooms. A tower from what could possibly be Beauclair looms in the distance. The title picture included with the leaked Steam listing features Geralt sitting on a throne, sword on lap and wine in hand, with a winged monster perched threateningly over the throne.
As with other leaks, none of this is confirmed by CD Projekt Red, so the details should be taken with a grain of salt. CD Projekt Red has been incredibly tight-lipped about the upcoming expansion, only confirming some details including the amount of content, the size of the region, and the same amazing writing as the rest of the series.
"I can already tell you Blood and Wine is a fascinating story, with every sort of twist and turn you'd expect from our writers," Marcin Momot, community and senior social media coordinator said in a recent release.
SteamDB corroborates many of the details of the leak by Wario64, showing that the Steam profile of the expansion pass was updated May 8 at approximately 11 a.m. EST (3 p.m. UTC). That update included a release date of May 30 but was pulled down soon after.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is the second major expansion pack for the Game Award's Game of the Year for 2015 winner, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The first expansion, Hearts of Stone, was released to critical acclaim in October 2015. CD Projekt Red is currently working on its next highly anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077.
