Fallout 4 Update 1.5 Beta Available Via Steam: Revamped Survival Mode, Far Harbor, Creation Kit And More

Fallout 4 on the PC gets update 1.5 beta via Steam, bringing in a slew of goodies and fixes across the board for settlers everywhere.

Straight off the bat, Bethesda is rolling out the patch to add support for the upcoming DLC Far Harbor, the third add-on following Automatron and Wasteland Workshop. Of course, that's not all, as it's coming with the revamped Survival Mode that took cues based on user feedback.

To go into detail, there's a new Survival difficulty now plus a couple of changes, including but not limited to no fast travel, saving only when players sleep and increased lethality, diseases, fatigue, danger and many others.

Interestingly, the developers also mention that they are working on launching the Creation Kit and the Bethesda.net Mods to the 1.5 Steam beta "soon." For the record, the two features are still in closed beta.

Meanwhile, the PS4 and Xbox One will get the update "in the coming weeks" too, and it's going to be complete with the Survival Mode. As for Mods support, the consoles will get it in "updates that follow."

Aside from the overhauled Survival Mode, the update 1.5 also offers performance improvements and general stability and irons out numerous bugs, particularly the distance check issue with the Robotics Expert perk and Ada not traveling to the assigned settlement, to name a few.

To get access the 1.5 beta, users will have to log in to their Steam accounts, right click on Fallout 4 in their Library, click on Settings, select Betas, choose Beta in the drop-down menu and tap on OK. The game should update by then and show up as Fallout 4 [Beta] in the Library.

In related news, the "largest landmass for an add-on" that is Far Harbor is expected to hit the shelves sometime in May with a price tag of $25.
