Inquisitive Destiny fans stumbled upon a clue that suggests the much anticipated release of the title's next big expansion is set for Sept. 20.
The sneaky detail was revealed on Reddit only 16 minutes after the April update went live. A user nicknamed Rezyl Azzir published a walkthrough to a hidden object, and there is a big chance that the user is actually a Bungie developer.
The assumption is based on the fact that the Redditor posted his walkthrough after accomplishing impressive feats in only 16 minutes. The user downloaded the update, finished a full Prison of Elders run, stumbled upon the hidden object AND managed to write a walkthrough about it. In 16 minutes.
Although the account is no longer active, other users took on the walkthrough and found an interesting collectable. Those who did also found details about a character named (surprise-surprise) Rezyl Azzir.
Before the mysterious Redditor's account vanished, the user posted a one-liner in Latin.
"Vegisima die mensis noni. ILLUD est venturus. Per Audacia ad astra"
The cryptic phrase can be translated into
"The twentieth day of the ninth month. IT is coming. Onward, to the stars."
The date falls right into place with previous releases in the game. Destiny officially launched on the ninth month, and the update pack The Taken King reached its fans one year after that. We might say that September is when Destiny celebrates its birthday and the New Year, simultaneously.
David Dague, Community Manager at Bungie, jumped in the hype bandwagon and teased the fans by hinting that engaging developments are in tow.
"The next point on the horizon is an update we're cooking up for the Fall. I've seen it. I'm excited about it. I will say no more... For now," Dague notes, before vanishing into a misty cloud.
Bungie also stated that the gaming company likes to discuss the progress of its games only once they reach their final form. This is a good reason for developers to keep away from spoilers and rumors, and simply engorge their fans in amazement with the polished product.
However, Bungie mentions that fans will get a taste of the scope, scale and flavor of the upcoming Destiny challenge sometime this summer.
