First Look At Finn Jones As Danny Rand For 'Iron Fist'

Danny Rand is back in New York City! First pics from the set of Iron Fist have surfaced, giving us our first look at Finn Jones as Rand in the Netflix series.

Tumblr user Delevinged was on site in New York as production started for the show, capturing Jones in costume as Rand. The pics give us an idea on how Rand will be looking in civilian garb (looks like this is the part where he first steps foot back in New York after living for years in K'un-Lun) but there's no clue when the character will be appearing as Iron Fist.

After Jones was announced to play Rand, his fellow Game of Thrones alum Jessica Henwick was cast as the show's female lead, Colleen Wing, a martial arts expert who owns her own dojo in New York and becomes one of Rand's most important allies.

More recent casting news hints at how the show will unfold. Iron Fist is an origin story but with the Meachums now cast, the family could be the main antagonists in the series or will at least have a big hand in supporting the villain. Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Stroup will be playing Ward and Joy Meachum while David Wenham will be bringing Harold Meachum to life.

Aside from getting fitted for his appearance as Danny Rand, Jones has also been training in preparation for his time as Iron Fist. According to him, his day starts out with some martial arts training combining kung-fu, wushu and tai-chi. He then does weights in the afternoon, followed by classes on meditation and buddhist philosophies in the evening.

He may have his hands full preparing for the show but Jones doesn't mind the hard work given Iron Fist is the kind of role that he's been waiting for, one that brings together superhero badassery and spiritual discipline.

There's no word yet on when Iron Fist will be released but the earliest the show will be available on Netflix will be 2017. Luke Cage will be going on ahead, premiering on Sept. 30, 2016.
