Leave it to the Ohio State University marching band to follow up their tribute to classic Disney films with an even bigger one: a show highlighting some of the most iconic sights and sounds from the history of television.
The band performed the show, titled "TV Land," during halftime of the OSU vs. Virginia Tech football game. Over the course of nine minutes the band plays a huge number of iconic TV show themes, ranging from "MASH," "Dragnet," "The Brady Bunch" and "The Munsters." More current TV fans weren't left out either. "Game of Thrones" received an impressive tribute, as did "The Simpsons" and shows like "The Office." Watch it for yourself in the video below from The Lantern TV.
But performing a show isn't just about playing some great music, it's also all about the footwork. Here too, the OSU marching band delivers. As you can see in the video below, the band creates some incredible moving formations, from classic TV sets to familiar images, like the pet hand featured in "The Munsters" to the iconic Batmobile as seen in Adam West's 1960's "Batman." They even manage to form the spitting image of Bart Simpson riding his skateboard down the field. If you are wondering what formation they took for the "Game of Thrones" theme, it was a flying dragon.
It all makes for an entertaining show that no doubt left attendees of the game cheering for more. The band will have quite the time trying to top this year's show next year, but after the level of skill and precision shown during this year's show, they probably aren't too worried.
