Two deer decided to cross the Golden Gate Bridge on Friday, September 5, just in time to cause traffic problems for evening commuters during rush hour.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that California Highway Patrol was called at 5:24 p.m. by drivers who reported a pair of deer taking the northbound lanes out of San Francisco. The traffic disruption was only brief, however, and CHP officers en route to deal with the situation were called off because the deer were no longer impeding traffic.
CHP Officer William Ogilvie told the Chronicle that it’s not uncommon for “animal hazards” to work themselves out before officers arrive because “animals don’t like traffic any more than humans do.”
Commuters on the bridge during the traffic disruption were quick to post photos and videos on social media of the two deer and their trek across the bridge.
