Warcraft's marketing machine isn't yet going full-steam ahead. Rather than a marketing blitz, it seems like Legendary is more content with slowly releasing new images, posters and trailers over time, at least until the film gets closer to release.
That's not the case today, however. Legendary has just unveiled five new character posters for Warcraft, giving us our best look yet at a number of supporting characters that have only been briefly seen in trailers and promotional materials up to this point.
The posters appeared on the official Warcraft Tumblr page, complete with brief summaries for each character. You can take a look at all of them below, complete with their respective descriptions.
First up is Gul'dan the Invader. We haven't seen much of Gul'dan in trailers, despite his being one of the main bad guys of the Warcraft universe. He's responsible for corrupting the orcs and opening the portal to Azeroth for invasion purposes.
His official description reads, "A tyrannical orc shaman wielding dark powers, Gul'dan sees all life as fuel for the Horde."
Next, we have King Llane of Stormwind. No doubt, we will see plenty of Llane in the final film, as he leads the human armies in battle against the orcs. Or at least that what's his character description seems to imply: "Leading from the front-lines, the noble King Llane is a symbol of strength in a time of war," Legendary writes.
Ogrim has been featured in various posters, images and trailers for the movie. Here, we get another look at the heroic orc and his legendary weapon, Doomhammer. Legendary's description for him reads, "Wielder of the mighty Doomhammer, Orgrim is fiercely loyal to his Chieftain Durotan."
Legendary also gives us our best look yet at one of the film's few female roles in the form of Lady Taria. Her description reads, "In an age of beasts and battlegrounds, Lady Taria's grace and diplomacy provide a beacon of hope to the people."
There's Garona, whom we've seen a few times in trailers as well, opposite Durotan. Legendary describes her as an "unbroken survivor who will join Lothar and Durotan to save a world they can all call home."
Also included are two posters for Durotan and Lothar, the two stars of the film. We've seen versions of these posters before, so nothing is terribly exciting. Lothar is described as "a brave knight who has sacrificed everything to become defender of Azeroth," while Durotan, chief of the Frostwolf Clan, "will do whatever it takes to find a home for his people."
Last but not least is Blackhand, an orc we haven't seen much of as of yet. He's one of the "bad" orcs alongside Gul'dan, hellbent on conquering Azeroth. Legendary describes him as: "Driven by cruel ambition and fueled by rage, Blackhand the Destroyer is war incarnate."
It's nice to see Warcraft's marketing machine abuzz, as the film is only two months away from release. Expect more posters and trailers in the weeks and months to come as Legendary seeks to build more hype around its summer blockbuster.
