"Have you ever had a nightmare that never ended?"
That's the question asked by 7 Days To Die, the once PC-only title that Telltale Publishing plans on bringing to consoles this summer.
Telltale made the announcement about a partnership with developer The Fun Pimps that will allow the publisher to bring the title to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers in June. The game is a unique blend of first-person shooter, tower defense, survival horror and roleplaying games, but also features combat, crafting, mining, exploration and looting.
In 7 Days to Die, players take on the role of a survivor in a brutal post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies, aka the undead.
"Telltale Publishing seeks to bring the best and most innovative games in their genres to new audiences. 7 Days to Die has already thrilled over 1.5 million PC users worldwide, and we're delighted to bring this game from the PC to consoles everywhere," Telltale Publishing VP Steve Allison said in a press email. "The Fun Pimps have redefined what the survival genre can be with unrivalled world-building, crafting, and character growth. With overwhelmingly positive user feedback for the PC version, we can't wait to expose a brand new audience to this exceptional and terrifying sandbox experience."
The publisher also has a treat in store for fans of its The Walking Dead series of games: everyone who preorders 7 Days To Die gets access to five TWD character skins, including Michonne and Lee Everett.
"7 Days to Die is a labor of love for our small group of games industry veterans," said The Fun Pimps co-founder Richard Hueninksaid. "After a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, we're grateful to have had a wonderful response from our active community of Steam Early Access users; now, our partners at Telltale Publishing are enabling us to get the game in front of new survivors across the globe."
The Fun Pimps assures existing fans that the game received a "perfect translation" for consoles, and that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will also include new features and content not seen in the original PC game, including a multiplayer mode with split-screen support. The company also plans on releasing console-only DLC.
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of 7 Days to Die will become available in June, either via physical disc or download. It's also available for preorder for $29.99 at GameStop, Best Buy, GAME and Amazon.
