Fans of the Michonne character from The Walking Dead television series and comic books are in for a treat with the release of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: Michonne video game that arrives this week.
The three-episode miniseries, featuring everyone's favorite sword-wielding zombie killer, tells a brand new story about Michonne, covering events that happened after she left the group led by Rick Grimes.
The first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne arrives this week, with Orange is the New Black actress Samira Wiley taking on the role of Michonne.
"Haunted by her past and coping with unimaginable loss and regret, the story explores Michonne across a three episode miniseries event," writes Telltale in an email press release. "Players will dive into the mind of Michonne to discover what took her away from Rick, Carl, and the rest of her trusted group ... and what brought her back."
Telltale made a name for itself as a game development studio with its previous games related to The Walking Dead franchise: those titles allow players to make story and dialogue choices that affect the outcome of the story, as well as determine who lives and dies. Although the Michonne game is similar, it is in no way connected to events from previous games revolving around Clementine.
The first episode, "In Too Deep," premieres on Feb. 23 for PC, as well as PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It will become available for iOS and Android mobile devices on Feb. 25.
"In this premiere episode, 'In Too Deep,' Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies," writes Telltale games in an email press release. "When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are led further to the floating survivors' colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage."
The second episode, "Give No Shelter," arrives in March, with the third and final episode, "What We Deserve" coming in April. All three episodes are available for $14.99 and include access to each as it becomes available.
