Paul McCartney announced his compilation album "Pure McCartney" will be out June 10.
Curated from songs spanning his career after The Beatles, "Pure McCartney" will not only feature hits from 1970 to 2015 but will also contain McCartney's personal favorites. Think of it as a "monumental mixtape."
"Me and my team came up with the idea of putting together a collection of my recordings with nothing else in mind other than having something fun to listen to," said McCartney.
As a songwriter, McCartney dabbled in countless styles and genre and this shows in "Pure McCartney." The Beatles member doesn't even look at his career as one. To him, it's more like a musical adventure. That he has been a part of writing and recording so many songs, each one different from the other, pleases McCartney and often amazes him.
"Pure McCartney" will be available in three formats: CD, LP and digital. Those opting to get the album in CD format will have a choice between 2- and 4-CD packs, the latter of which boasts 67 tracks!
Aside from "Pure McCartney," the music icon was keeping busy recently by being part of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. There was no word on what his role was but it was confirmed that the scene McCartney will be in has been filmed and will be inserted post-production.
Hopefully appearing in a popular movie franchise will help make McCartney more recognizable with the younger crowd. Earlier in the year, he collaborated with Kanye West and Twitter lit up with tweets thanking the "Saint Pablo" singer for discovering him.
It doesn't include his work with The Beatles but maybe "Pure McCartney" can teach young people a thing or two about music.
