It seems Sir Paul McCartney is moving on from being a singer, composer and all-around music icon on land to cruising the seven seas-most likely not in a yellow submarine-as sources have confirmed that a "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" extra scene built around the Beatle member is being filmed.
McCartney was apparently quietly cast for the role and the scene he is set to show up in is really just an additional scene which can easily be inserted in post-production. That also means that whatever his role is, it not be getting a lot of screen time for this film.
There were no clues given as to what role McCartney was given, so there's still a possibility that he is not a pirate at all, but wouldn't it be a lot better if he was? After all, rock legend Keith Richards came on board to play Captain Teague, Captain Jack Sparrow's father, and he was excellent at it.
Still, the films in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise have been playing around with different characters and creatures from the great myths so it would not be surprising if he ended up as a Davy Jones-like character or even someone from Greek Mythology. Then again, the production can just as easily bring back the British Navy to give chase to Jack Sparrow again.
Whatever will happen in the fifth installment, we know it was done with much enthusiasm, especially for the directing team since it is the first time Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are handling the Disney blockbuster.
It is definitely something to look forward to since "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tides" was also a big hit, earning over $1 billion worldwide.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled to sail to cinemas on May 26, 2017.
